Musings on a slow day!

"I wish I was a trophy wife who just had to worry about her manicure", said a colleague on a Monday morning. Don't we women just sometimes echo these thoughts when we are burdened with pressures at work and home. It is strange that we all claim to be workaholics and "career-oriented" while at times we just want to be in "her" shoes; the same woman whom we gossip about because she is young and beautiful and erm! married to a rich old man.

The Rain Gods are pleased!

Mumbai has seen its first rains today...the cool breeze blows, the fragrant earth is blooming! I forgot to carry my umbrella and was drenched to the core. Hope the mercury falls a bit!

Things that annoy me!

1)Stupid People; I mean stupidity of any kind whether in thought or action.
2)Lack of commitment: I mean what is the point of doing something when you do it half heartedly.
3)People who are fussy about food and every other thing
4)People who dont flush toilets: If i had a gun I would shoot them!
5)People who have no respect for human beings but prefer spending time fiddling with their cell phones or other gizmos.
6)People who think they are a blessing to this planet (but in reality are a pain in the @$).
7)People who lie (make false allegations and mess up your life)
8)Getting sick and staying in bed and having that horrible kanji
9)When I am blamed for something I didnt do.
10)Fake people and I mean Fake people.

I thought I should start a new segment within this blog to spend some time to improve one's knowledge of English since the subject is so close to my heart and ahem! my work. This word is something I came across in my course of work this week.

deli. A deli is short for delicatessen which is a place where you can buy delicacies or special food. It comes from the German Delikatessen, which in turn comes from an old French word which means "delicious things (to eat)". It’s not connected to the modern word delicate which now means fine or dainty. Delicate has its roots in Latin as delicatus, meaning "giving pleasure or delightful". (with due credit to bbc.)

A New year.. and a few stray thoughts

I seem to have simply forgotten about the existence of this blog..so many things have happened in the last few months. Truly life changing events! In Oprah's words I might call it "Life-Defining Moments". I haven't had the time to update my blog. Apologies to my readers (if any). I have been too saturated reading pages and pages of unedited news articles at work and by the time I come home, I am in no mood to read or write anything. So exhausted! Today, however, I am in the mood to share my thoughts and experiences over the few months.

The new year has not begun with a bang as was beseiged with family issues. A close relative fell ill and was hospitalised. So a few days were spent in the hospital. Later, I was absorbed in my own personal issues which I will elaborate later in my autobiography// (Do not want to spoil the suspense too soon). Work has been crazy.. Personally I was shattered but professionally its been my best till now. A bonus coupled with a raise made its way to the account. A couple of offers too made its presence felt but things didnt fall into place so was rejected.

I have stopped working from home and am back at the office which seems to be more colourful with the addition of two new reporters. I had to bid goodbye to one of my closest colleagues because she has been transferred to our Hong Kong division. Hoping that lady luck is favourable to me as well..Would be interesting to move to a new city, especially Hong Kong, which like Mumbai has assimilated so many cultures into itself. The city also boasts of an excellent public transport system, the metro and the trams. Besides, it is perfectly safe at night. I was put up at Hollywood Central, the poshest part of the island. The area has many restaurants and bars which are full on the weekends. I have seen less of the locals frequenting these places but most of the customers are expats who are in Hong Kong or tourists. I was fortunate enough to visit a couple of places one of which served Mexican food called Carumba! and Japanese food named Doozo. I enjoyed the sushis and makis they served. Simply amazing!
